1.Apply for grants, scholarships and federal funding first.

• You may be eligible for grants and scholarships. These are free money that never has to be repaid. The Federal government offers subsidized and interest-deferred loans, in addition to low, fixed APR loans.

2.Do you meet each of these criteria?

• Enrolled at least part-time in a degree program at an approved 4- or 5-year undergraduate or graduate school.

• Citizen of the United States or a permanent resident
• At least 18 years of age

3.Do you have a cosigner?

• You will need someone to cosign your loan with you – usually a parent. This person's credit history will determine the interest rate you receive. It's important that you understand your cosigner's credit history. A better credit history will help you get a better rate on your loan. A cosigner will also have to meet minimum income and debt-to-income requirements.

4.Have this information ready:

• Your Social Security number
• Your date of birth
• Your U.S. mailing address
• Your phone number
• Your driver's license number
• Requested loan amount for the private student loan
• Two personal adult references at different U.S. addresses, including their phone numbers
• Your cosigner's e-mail address
• Make note of your application identifier after submitting your loan application.

TIP: Keep copies

Make sure that you keep a copy of everything you are sending, including applications, disclosures and other documents associated with your financial aid. Store these documents in a safe and convenient place.

Cosigner

All CompleteEd™ Loans require a cosigner. If you are applying as a cosigner, you must be a United States citizen at least 18 years old. Your credit will be used to determine the interest rate the student receives. Not sure about some of this information? Let us help. Contact our customer service department at 800-798-1660.

The cosigner should have this information ready:

• Social Security number
• Date of birth
• U.S. mailing address
• E-mail address
• Phone number
• Driver's license number and state
• Requested loan amount (this loan amount should match what the borrower requested)
• Verifiable gross monthly income
• Monthly housing payment
• Reference information: Name, address and phone number
• The application identifier provided by the borrower
